Very few artists have recorded more songs at Studio 11 than YP. I can’t even count how many mixtapes, singles, and features this loyal client has created in Studio B’s booth. YP is a prime example of how hard work and dedication to the music industry can pay off.
YP became a Studio 11 client in 2006 after a visit here to listen to some joints Bump J had recorded. He soon fell in love with the vocal sound he was able to capture in Studio B, and made Studio 11 his recording home for the next several years. YP was signed by Universal Republic in 2012. The major label backed and distributed his single “Who I Be” and also helped him land a video on MTV with fellow Chicago rapper King Louis for the song “Rub-A-Dub.”
2013 rolled around and as 2014 is around the corner, YP has not taken a moment to sleep. You can find him in the studio every week accumulating songs and creating timeless records. In the above video you are listening to his new song “Know The Deal” which features YP’s classic flow over a smooth sample driven track. The hook features Chicago singer/rapper Trey Bandz.
Well, we couldn’t help but get revved up hearing this catchy hook spilling out of Studio B. Pinky Swear catches up with DOT for a quick interview and preview of the cut “TWICE” which will be featured on his 2014 mix tape.
Chicago rapper A-List (formerly Inf-1) is one of Studio 11’s first clients. He’s been gracing our booth for over 10 years. With a distinctively Chicago sound, A-List has earned the respect of hip-hop heads on a national scale.
The past several years, A-List has been able to land numerous television deals, performing raps about current events related to sports and celebrities. His unique and clever wording has made him a go-to artist among television producers looking for a creative way to bring viewers news.
You may have seen A-List on one of the following TV shows:
Fox Sports – Best Damn Sports Show Period
E! Hollywood – The Daily 10
Big 10 Network – Tip Off Show
Big 10 Network – Pregame Show
When most people think of Studio 11, they think about the great mix work that comes out by the hands of our engineers Steve Anderson, Alex Gross & Martin Velazquez. What they don’t realize is that another great engineer has just recently joined our family. We welcome 15 year veteran engineer Kris Anderson to the foray. His first session in Studio B involved talented Chicago rapper and long time Studio 11 client R.O.D. The highlight of the session was the recording and mix of R.O.D.’s track “Big Money Dirty” for his new mixtape “Reign Of Destruction” featuring Joey P. Check out what Kris and R.O.D. do when their talents are unleashed in Studio B.
Most Studio 11 clients are familiar with the technical work of engineer Steve Anderson, however few are aware that he is an artist as well. A recent collaboration between Steve and Studio 11 client Nephew has been placed on a Brazilian trailer for this season of Law and Order. Check Steve out singing on the track!
